Post-wedding the wait begins. Here's an honest breakdown of how long professional wedding photo editing and film production really takes.
The Wait After the Wedding: Setting Realistic Expectations
The week after your wedding is filled with one question: "When will the photos be ready?" We completely understand this eagerness — you have just had the most important day of your life and you desperately want to see it through your photographer's eyes.
At Weddings Mafia, we believe in absolute transparency about timelines. Here is an honest, detailed breakdown.
Phase 1: Sneak Peek — Within 48 Hours
We deliver 20-30 carefully selected and fully edited images within 48-72 hours of your wedding. These are typically the most impactful moments: the first look, the ceremony kiss/Jaimala, an emotional family portrait, and one stunning couple portrait.
Why we can deliver these quickly: Our on-site editors begin culling and editing during the wedding itself. By the time the event ends, the best images are already partially processed.
Phase 2: Full Photo Gallery — 3 to 4 Weeks
The complete edited gallery of 800-1500 images is delivered within 3-4 weeks. Here is what happens during this period:
- Week 1: Culling — selecting the best 20-25% from 3000-6000 raw files
- Week 1-2: Base editing — exposure, white balance, noise reduction on all selected images
- Week 2-3: Retouching — skin retouching, background cleaning on key portrait shots
- Week 3-4: Final export, quality control, gallery upload
Phase 3: Wedding Film — 6 to 8 Weeks
A cinematic wedding film takes significantly longer than photo editing:
- Week 1-2: Log ingestion, organisation, and rough cut assembly
- Week 2-4: Editing, audio mixing, music placement
- Week 4-6: Colour grading and motion graphics
- Week 6-8: Client review, revision, and final export
Phase 4: Physical Album — 8 to 12 Weeks
After you review and approve the photo gallery, album design begins. The design process takes 2-3 weeks, printing and binding at our print lab takes 3-4 weeks, and quality control inspection adds another week.
Weddings Mafia sends regular progress updates so you always know exactly where your photos and films are in production.
